How can I properly articulate this intense call to nursing? I’m not quite sure if there are words powerful enough to describe this magnetic pull to be of service to others. I have always known that I want to help, give, and live for the betterment of my fellow human beings. It was during the pandemic that I began recognizing that this was the path for me. I was constantly in awe as I watched the healthcare workers up against the biggest fight many of us have ever seen. I knew that I was being called to join them. It doesn’t hurt that I also have two little girls who drive my motivation to be the best human I can be and create a life that is sustainable and meaningful. I am passionate about caring for others and I am truly blessed that I have had the opportunity to fulfill this dream and show my girls that we are capable of anything.
As I began searching for schools in Ohio, I saw an online advertisement for Hondros College of Nursing. I started reaching out and was on the phone with a student advisor within minutes! My questions were answered and as it turns out, they had a program that would fit my schedule. I was able to choose the remote option, where I still experience the lecture as it is happening with added flexibility. This is a game-changer for a single mom! Hondros made it possible for me to pursue my nursing career.
To those considering nursing, get your support system in order! Know at least two people who will be there for you when you need them in this process. Trust me, you will need them at some point. Nursing school is not easy, but it will be worth it. And if you have a passion for helping others, dive in with your whole heart, and keep going. The world needs nurses now more than ever before. I can say with confidence that you will not regret this decision.
