Hello! My name is Professor Teia Atkins. I was hired as a clinical instructor at the Akron campus in October of 2022 and became part of the nursing faculty in March of 2023. I have an extensive background in nursing, with 17 years of clinical experience and a certification in cardiovascular nursing. I will be graduating from American Public University System (APUS) with my master's degree in nursing leadership (June 2025) courtesy of the continuing education benefits program provided by APEI.
Currently, I teach Term 1 in the PN program, and it has been very rewarding. To be the first instructor to instill knowledge and guide the new generation of nurses is an amazing privilege. I pride myself on building individual relationships with each student and recognizing their strengths and challenges so that I can be beneficial to their learning process. The students have so many obstacles in the first term, and I try to provide them with the tools needed to succeed!!
I enjoy working at the Akron campus because even though we are a smaller campus, we have stepped up not only for our students but for each other.
